Ahyoung (Julie) Tae, PSY.D.

Practice Locations: South Philadelphia, Center City Philadelphia & Teletherapy

Dr. Ahyoung (Julie) Tae is a pre-licensed clinical psychologist with experience helping individuals with a wide range of symptoms and interpersonal challenges. Her fundamental approach to therapy is grounded in psychodynamic theory, and she also utilizes evidence-based therapies such as CBT, DBT, ACT, and short-term Solution-Focused Therapy. Dr Tae practices under the supervision of  Dr. Estadt.

She is experienced in treating mood disorders, psychosis, and in helping clients navigate major transitions and relationship conflicts. She also specializes in treating personality disorders, multicultural/intersectional identity stress, and has a strong background in working with individuals struggling with antisocial tendencies and criminal backgrounds. In addition to her psychotherapy skills, Dr. Tae has a strong background in psychological assessment, including intellectual and cognitive testing, forensic assessments, and neuropsychological evaluations.

Dr. Tae has extensive clinical experience in a wide array of settings, (private outpatient practices, inpatient hospitals, outpatient substance use treatment facilities, maximum security prisons, active-duty military mental hospitals, college counseling centers) and is comfortable in working with individuals from all walks of life, struggling with a wide array of issues.  She believes that the better someone understands their experiences, the better they are able to understand themselves and the larger story of their identity.  Using this idea as a starting point for psychotherapy, it is her belief that the process of therapy can result in deeper understanding and a more integrated sense of self.  Changes in our perceptions and interactions that occur as a part of  this process can then also have a profound impact on the decisions we make and how we live our lives.

Dr. Tae is bilingual and is able to conduct sessions in English or Korean.
